Dr. Rob Pennington teaches us to recognize that conflict, while difficult, is not personal. Isn’t it true that the person you are in conflict with would be the way they are whether you’re there or not. If you realize that simple fact, then you realize it’s not personal. It has more to do with the way they have learned to behave or their values, etc. That’s valuable information if you want to have influence.

1 Simple Thing Action:
Realize that they (the person you are in conflict with) are going to be this way whether you are there or not. Proper breathing and relaxing will help you. Take those first deep breaths and realize, “Okay, maybe they see something I don’t see; let me figure out what that is.”
